This was a FUN one!! Kerry and Matt were married back on March 9, 2013 and held their wedding reception at the Crooked Lake House, Operated by the Old Daley Catering & Events. This was a Vinny Vin kind of reception with tons of dancing and partying! When I met with the Bride & Groom, they expressed how they wanted to create a fun & memorable evening for all their guests……..as you can see from the pics below…..I Killed it! The choice of music the Bride & Groom selected as well as using my professional judgement was the perfect combination that seriously electrified the dance floor!

When Ryan (my Groom) called me up and said “Hey Vin, can each couple in our bridal party come out to a different song?…..I got something BIG Planned” – Me: Hell yeah, let’s do it! I had no idea what or how, but I knew the when and the why…….well just to give you some background, Shannon (my bride) works for tv land and her husband Ryan Woodle is an actor, NO seriously, he’s an actor…..go check him out here: so when they came up with different TV Show tunes for Introduciton music…I knew it was gonna be Epic! Sorry, I know that word is over used but its the only word that describes this video!

My favorite moment at weddings

Hey everyone! I wanted to share this blog post because I get asked a lot “Vin – what is your favorite thing about weddings?” Well I can never really answer that in one response because there are so many things that I love about weddings! For example: the energy of the room right before I announce the bride and groom in, or the emotions I see on the guests faces when the bride dances with her father……..the laughter from a great toast or the cheers I get when I open the dance floor! But mainly my absolute favorite moment at a wedding is when I can get ALL the guests out the dance floor, young, old and everyone in between……to boogie down to a couple a songs! I’m a true DJ at heart, so I love to get lost in my one of my dance set’s……Look up and see the dance floor packed and then I seize my moment!

This is when i tell the photographer to either grab a chair or get ready cause I ask ALL the guests to face me and “THROW YOUR HANDS UP!!” Its fun, memorable and a great way to capture the fun we had on your wedding night! 2013 Brides and Grooms….Get ready!

Kevin & Paige at The Franklin Plaza

2013 weddings have begun! We started off this year at one of my favorite venues, The Franklin Plaza Ballroom in Troy, NY. Kevin & Paige were an awesome couple who got married back on January 19th in front 180 friends and family! It was a classic winter wedding in which Kevin and Paige designed their reception to be a reflection of who they are as a couple…..FUN!!! It was a dance party the whole night! Kevin & Paige never left the dance floor and neither did their guests!!!

We Started off the night with Intro’s to some Old School Van Halen – Dance the Night Away (great tune!)

Then Kevin & Paige shared their first dance as Husband and Wife to an absolute Classic from the King Himself – Nat King Cole – I love you (for sentimental reasons)

And then the night got interesting……..Kevin surprised his new wife Paige, to a Choreographed dance or FLASH MOB Dance, with his Bridal Party to the Black eyed Peas – I gotta Feeling! It was EPIC TO SAY THE LEAST!

The night took from here and they “danced the night away”!

Hey Everyone! Wedding season is now in full swing and despite all the bad weather we have been having, Memorial Day weekend was absolutely beautiful with sunny skies and happy couples! Bridget and Matt were married back on May 26^th 2012 and held their 6hr wedding reception for all 250 guests at the Historic Gideon Putnam Resort in Saratoga Springs, NY. Bridget and Matt assembled what I like to call the A Team of Wedding Vendors, alongside me were my favorite ladies of Casey Connell Photography, Cheryl and Amanda of CASL Productions, gorgeous Flowers by Pesha and of course the Famous and uber talented Flawless by Tina (P.S. Tina is my sister and A ridiculously good Make-up artist)

Reception Highlights:

Parent Intro’s: Tonights the night by Outasight (Great upbeat song for the parents to walk into!)

Bridal Party Intro’s: Forever by Chris Brown (This Bridal party brought it…..and I mean they lit up the dance floor and got everyone excited….Great job guys!)

Bride & Groom Intro’s: Back in Time by Pitbull (This is where the wedding went off the charts……the bride and groom entered the room, met by their bridal party and tore up the dance floor…then I invited all 250 guests to join in and it was dance floor insanity! Bridget & Matt’s Wedding Celebration had begun!)

First Dance: Don’t want to miss a thing by Aerosmith (Bridet & Matt were High School sweethearts & Prom King & Queen and that was their prom song…..very fitting)

This wedding had a great mix of young, energetic and fun souls, who loved to dance and have a good time! I played a great mix of music by including some of today’s TOP 40, a couple classic’s from early 2000’s like Usher, Britney Spears and Lil John’s get Low but I really think everyone had a blast dancing to these wedding staples: We are Family, Footloose, Like a Prayer, Love Shack and of Course SHOUT! But the Highlight of the night is when Matt’s navy buddies asked me to play “You’ve lost that loving feeling”…….if anyone has seen the movie Top Gun, you will understand why this was such a great moment in the night! It’s been a crazy past couple of weeks with ‘Non Stop’ weddings but I wanted to share this wedding with you I had the honor to DJ for a month ago. May 5, 2012, Cinco de Mayo as we all call it, Eric and Emily and 50 of their closest friends and Family came together to celebrate at the very intimate and quaint, Daisy Bakers Restaurant in Troy, NY. The photo you see below of the Bride & Groom was taken by their photographer Vincent Gizzi of Vincent Nicholas Photography (First time ever I worked with another Vinny!) and the Epic Video you will see below is from my Man Jason Capron from Adirondack Video Productions!

Reception Highlights:

Intro Music for the Bride & Groom: You’re my Best Friend by Queen (How fitting ;-)

First Dance: Crazy Love by Michael Buble (this is a great cover to one written and performed by Van Moorison)

Father/Daughter Dance – Nothing Can Change this Love by Sam Cooke

Mother/Son Dance – Was a Traditional Latvian Folk song (all the guests got to join in)

Now I must say…for only inviting about 50 people to their wedding….the energy in the room was incredible and the dance floor got a lot of action! Some of the songs that erupted the dance floor were Harry Beafonte’s – Jump in the Line, Chris Brown-Forever, The Hermes House Band – Country Roads (SHOUT OUT TO ALL MY SIENA PEEPS!) but the one song that was pretty cool and fun to dance too (as you will see on the video below) Shakira’s- Waka Waka….it was the official 2010 FIFA World Cup Song! But there is one song that stood out for me that I will never forget…….and That was Hakuna Matata! Yes, you read that right……it’s a wonderful Phrase! It’s mean’s no worries…….for the rest of your days……..you know the rest of the words! ;-)

Samantha & David, Saratoga National

WOW! WOW! WOW! This weekends wedding was a great way to start off the 2012 wedding season…….I am in full throttle from now till December, I love it! Sam and David were married this past weekend on April 21st at the Beautiful Saratoga National in Saratoga Springs NY (They have an amazing staff on hand to make sure your wedding day is perfect!). Sam & David met with me a year ago to plan their wedding, they just wanted to meet with me first before booking me….because there wedding was unique. What do i mean? Well David’s family is latino and Samatha’s family is Indian, so there was going to be a great mix of people, cultures but more importantly…..LA MUSICA!!!!! (Anytime your DJin a wedding with a mix of cultures and music….it can be very challenging but who doesn’t love a challenge, right?) In addition they wanted someone who could keep up with the energy of the crowd and who could cater to all………I did not disappoint! I also worked alongside some great vendors this weekend too, Bruce Curtis of Imagine Photography and World renown Videographer Lance Wheeler

RECEPTION HIGHLIGHTS:

Parent Intro’s: The Brides parents were introduced to Please Please me by the Beatles…..and the Groom’s parents were introduced to Dancing Machine by The Jackson Five! (Classic throwbacks like these are PERFECT music for Parent Intro’s)

Bridal Party Intro’s: We Tryin to Stay Alive by Wyclef Jean (If your in your 30′s….you remember this song ;-)

Bride & Groom Intro’s: Where have you been by Rihanna (BY FAR ONE OF THE HOTTEST SONGS TO WALK INTO….check it out!!!!)

Sarah and Pat at the Hall of Springs

What’s up everyone! About one month ago, March 3, 2012, Sarah and Pat held their wedding reception at the Beautiful Hall of Springs, in Saratoga NY. I had the pleasure of working alongside the very funny and very talented Matt Ramos of Matt Ramos Photography……….I can’t help to burst out laughing every time I work with Matt!! He doubles as a Photographer and comedian ;-)…… Back to the bride ad groom. Sarah and Pat are an awesome couple and were a blast to work with…..but more importantly were very, very passionate about their music. Here’s where I come in………I didn’t meet the couple till about two weeks before their wedding (pretty standard in our biz) and we went through and designed everything from the cocktail hour music, dinner music, to the dance party USA reception! Sarah had envisioned a 90’s love theme for her Cocktail hour. Slow down….not what you’re thinking. Songs like:

Sarah wanted something upbeat for intro’s……..to let everybody know IT’S PARTY TIME!!!!!!!

Parent Intro’s: Without you by Usher ft. David Guetta (The fast upbeat part of the song).

Bridal Party Intro’s: Hello by Martin Solveig (By far one of my favorite bridal party songs to introduce the Bridal party too! It’s fun, upbeat and get’s everyone pumped up!)

Bride & Groom Intro’s: We Found Love (Chuckie Extended Remix) by Rihanna (Awesome remix to this song…..it has a long instrumental part before it breaks into the chorus, PERFECT for Intro’s!)

First Dance: Dance me to the end of love by the Civil Wars (Cool band and a great first dance choice –it’s unique. Check them out!!!)

Once dinner was over, we cut the cake and opened up the dance floor for the remainder of the evening! There was such great energy in the air, there had to be at least 90 percent of the people at the reception on the dance floor – it was Bananas!!! Sarah was a big fan of dance music……….well guess what, so am I ;-) I have a lot cool remixes to old school songs, so everyone from young to old can enjoy them! My favorite parts of the night is when I played Walk like an Egyptian by the Bangles for Sarah’s Sisters and everyone broke out their best impersonation of an Egyptian dance….LOL!!! The other is how I closed the night……I love it when a crowd at a reception Chants “ONE MORE SONG, ONE MORE SONG!!” Check out the Video to see what I played!

Ali and Ben at Pat’s Barn

Ali and her husband Ben were married Back on February 11^th, 2012 at the rustic but modern Pat’s Barn in the Rensselaer Tech Park. Ali is the cousin of my good friend and photographer Jessie Casey of Casey Connell Photography! Jessie attended the wedding not as a guest but Ali and Ben’s trusted photographer. Jessie even brought her sister Jill along to setup and run the Casey Connell Fun Booth as a gift to the bride & Groom (awwww that was nice). Originally, Ali & Ben were going to have an iPod wedding, until luckily, Jessie talked her out of it and led her to me. Ali quickly realized the days leading up to the wedding how valuable a professional DJ is worth having on the day of your wedding reception. But it didn’t stop me from busting her chops a little bit……LOL! All is good fun people.

Ali and Ben had hired me for the whole day: Ceremony, Cocktail, and ONE EPIC WEDDING RECEPTION!

Music for the Ceremony was:

Seating of the Parents: At last by Etta James (May she rest in peace, this is a song that will still be classic and played in 50 years from now)

Entrance of the Bridesmaids: You’ve got a friend by Carole King

Entrance of the Bride: Sea of Love by Cat power (I really love this song for ceremony music, please go listen to it)

Recessional: Lucky by Marc Broussard (Cued right at the chorus)

Music for the Cocktail hour was an eclectic mix of the Beatles, Van Morrison, independent & various Artists.

RECEPTION HIGHLIGHTS:

Introduction Music: I’ve got the world on a string by Michael Buble (The whole wedding party……all 30 of them…..was introduced to this song, which gave that traditional, timeless, yet classic feel, which Ali & Ben were going for).

First Dance: Harvest Moon by rock legend Neil Young.

Father/Daughter: Wild World by Cat Stevens (I can’t tell you how much I love this song! and for Ali and her dad to dance to this song was amazing!)

Mother/Son: You are the sunshine of my life by Stevie Wonder (a fitting song for all you grooms looking for a nice song to dance with ‘Mom’)

There is only one word to describe the rest of the reception/night…….EPIC!!!!! Ali & Ben wanted that good time feel of wedding music without being overly cheesy, for example: Love Shack, MJ, Motown, The Stones, Footloose and a couple Top 40). Some of my favorite moments is when Ali danced with her Brother, sister and Immediate family to Your so Vein by Carly Simon (that was a cool intimate moment, that I’m sure will be always be remembered). But where this wedding went into EPIC proportions is when Ali’s Uncle asked me to play Big Ole Butt by LL Cool J. Normally, this would be a little riske’ but he assured me there was a meaning behind it, so I said “what the hell!” -well as soon as I hit play…..her uncle and several other guys meet in the middle of dance floor…..did a little shimmy, then to my surprise, dropped trouser and danced in their boxers!! YUP……SEE FOR YOURSELF!!!

Ali & Ben I am so glad you decided to hire me and NOT an Apple iPod…….this was a great way to start off the 2012 season and one wedding, which will be hard to Top ;-)
